A extended voyage through the Land Down Under was terminated in the wake of the death of an older female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a distant island.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel sailed away leaving her and came back later that day after the crew realised the lady was not present.

A major hunt located her body the next day.

Investigative bodies are examining the event, together with police and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator said that guests and personnel on the vessel were informed that the rest of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier mechanical issues".

Through an announcement, he added that passengers would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the homeward trips of the individuals via chartered flights".

Officials also published an updated announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Captain" prohibiting any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The representative said that they would attend the ship in the Australian city upon its return.

The vessel initially left the Australian port on 24 October, and was just two days into the journey at the point of the senior passenger's death. Lizard Island was the first stop on the voyage.

Travelers on board - who generally pay substantial amounts of money to take part in the expedition - were transported there for a shore visit with the possibility of hiking or underwater exploration.

The child of the victim said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the vessel left Lizard Island after an planned tour without my mum".

In her statement, she described her parent as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a bushwalking club.

"According to scant details we have been provided, it appears that there was a breakdown of responsibility and common sense," she said.

She further stated that she desired the inquiry would be able to identify what "the operator should have performed that might have protected Mother's life".

"Based on information from the police that it was a exceptionally warm period, and she fell ill on the hill climb," she explained.

"They requested her to return, unescorted. Then the ship sailed away, seemingly without doing a headcount.
